NEW DELHI [NCRBuzz Wire] — ### Regulatory Enforcement Action Against Unregistered Advisory
Markets regulator SEBI has directed Avadhut Dinkar Sathe, Avadhut Sathe Trading Academy Pvt Ltd (ASTAPL), and Gouri Avadhut Sathe to disgorge ₹546.17 crore along with ₹67.87 crore in interest. The regulatory directive follows findings that the entities operated unregistered investment advisory and research analyst services under the pretext of educational programmes and sessions.
### Statutory Violations and Penalties
In its comprehensive 171-page final order, SEBI barred the entities from accessing securities markets for two years or until refund compliance is achieved. Furthermore, an aggregate monetary penalty of ₹11.5 crore was imposed for regulatory breaches, distributed as ₹6 crore on the academy, ₹4 crore on Sathe, and ₹1.5 crore on Gouri Avadhut Sathe. The investigation established that the respondents circulated misleading promotional testimonials while systematically concealing underlying trading losses from retail participants.
SEBI enforces stringent regulatory oversight under the SEBI Act and relevant regulations to curb unauthorized financial advisory, training, and portfolio management operations that lack formal registration, thereby safeguarding retail investors from systemic market risks and deceptive promotional practices.
